Overview:
Over 15 years experience shooting, lighting, producing, directing,
and editing for film and video, using a wide variety of formats and
equipment. Before working with moving images I was a still

click here. I continue to accept still photography assignments, as well as making
films and videos.
My films and videos have been shown in a wide variety of venues in
the USA and abroad. I have been an interview guest on many TV and radio
shows, to talk about my award-winning work. My photography has been
featured in a diverse assortment of popular and corporate publications,
books, and gallery shows.

LOOK AT THE WORLD THROUGH WOMEN'S EYES
This half hour documentary on
the United Nations 4th World Conference on Women/NGO Forum in Beijing,
made for the U.S. Ecumenical Women's Network and the National Council of
Churches, focuses on the spiritual aspects of this gathering of 35,000
women from all over the world.

ECO - CITIES CONFERENCE
Documentary for the 3rd International
Eco-Cities Conference, held in Yoff, Senegal, which brought together an
international group of environmentalists, architects, city planners and
educators to share information on improving the ecology of urban
areas.

THE WORLD WHEEL
Documentary on the work of a unique sculptor/
painter/ performer, Vijali Hamilton, who traveled around the globe in a
wheel-shaped pattern, creating large sculptures in natural stone, as
gifts for each of 12 communities she visited. These unusual pieces of
art reflect the issues and concerns of local people. For three months
Vijali and Karil traveled together in Asia and Karil videotaped the
project's activities in India, Tibet and China.

CHERNOBYL & THREE MILE ISLAND, A
SPACEBRIDGE
For Internews. PBS documentary about a groundbreaking
satellite spacebridge that linked scientists in 5 American cities and 5
Soviet cities through a live teleconference, to discuss safer approaches
to future energy needs. Co-Cinematographer for San Francisco segment.
SAN FRANCISCO/MOSCOW TELEPORT
Documentation of various photophone
citizen diplomacy exchanges in the 80's between groups of individuals
and organizations in the USA and the USSR, over a four year period.
Included the first Soviet/American Cartoon Art Exchange at the San
Francisco Art Commission Gallery, which featured a live photophone
exchange with Moscow and a panel discussion with Soviet and American
cartoonists.

SAN FRANCISCO/MOSCOW: FACE TO FACE
For the Ark Foundation. An
inspirational short that documented a photophone exchange connecting
Soviet computer students with their San Francisco counterparts in

SAN FRANCISCO UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL
Documentation of a special
"Hunger Banquet" event created to dramatize the inequity of
food resources worldwide, and to teach affluent students about issues of
hunger in the Third World by bringing them into direct personal contact
with the problem. Cinematographer.
WHY DO THESE KIDS LOVE SCHOOL?
For Concentric Media. Documentary on
alternative education and the innovative methods that stimulate a true

SAN FRANCISCO WALDORF SCHOOL
Documentation of various special
presentations by educators Henry Barnes, Rene Querido, Robert McDermott

GREENPEACE and the BAY AREA PEACE NAVY
Documentary on civil
disobedience actions by Greenpeace and Peace Navy activists during fleet
week, to focus attention on anti-nuclear issues. Co-Cinematographer for
this 7 camera shoot.
SURF FOR LIFE
For Energon Productions. Documentary on healthy aging,
which focuses on surfers over age 50. Shows how the sport they love has

anti-nuclear work of a group of women, which included rituals and
demonstrations at Lawrence Berkeley and Livermore Laboratories. Partial

THE LAST INNOCENT SUMMER
For Ran Cochran Films. 16mm feature film
about a friendship between an older black jazz musician and a white
teenage boy in Jackson, Mississippi during the early 60's. Within the
framework of a dramatic story this film deals with racism, social
justice, ethics and values formation.
